Reading it in your own voice
Record yourself reading every page — free, unlimited, on-device — then add music underneath. Generated voices exist too, but yours is the one worth keeping.

Why this is the feature that matters
Every storybook app can read a story aloud in a synthetic voice. That was impressive for about a year and it is now a commodity — it gets cheaper and more convincing every few months, and it sounds the same in everyone’s app.
What none of them can do is be you. A recording of you reading your own child’s story, made from your own child’s drawing, is not something that can be generated, bought, or replaced later. In fifteen years it is the only part of the file anyone will care about.
So recording your own narration is free, unlimited, on-device, and needs no account. It is not the premium feature. It is the point.
Three layers, not a timeline
Multitrack editors are miserable on a phone. Doodle Dragon Studio uses three simple layers instead.
Narration belongs to one page. Record it with your phone’s microphone, or import an MP3, M4A, WAV, or AAC file — Android also accepts OGG. Free, on-device, unlimited.
Video sound belongs to a video on a page. Include it or mute it, and set the volume for that page.
Story music belongs to the whole project. Import an audio file, preview it, replace it, or remove it. It loops across the finished export.
Lower music under narration
One switch. When it’s on and a page has narration, the music drops so the voice stays clear. It is deliberately a single conservative control rather than a ducking curve you have to draw.
Generated narration
With Studio Plus, you can have the app read your text aloud in one of several curated voices. You review the text, voice, style, and credit cost before it is sent. The result is then attached to the page, where you can preview or remove it.
What ends up in the export
When you export a video, the app mixes each page’s video sound at its point on the timeline, each page’s narration clipped to that page’s duration, and the story music looped underneath.
