1.6.0 build 67 — Current beta

An Android privacy correction with no feature changes. Android is in open beta on Google Play and the iOS beta is available through TestFlight; this is not a public-store launch announcement. Join the beta.

• Android no longer requests the Advertising ID permission. A Google measurement library had added it to the app. Advertising-ID collection was already turned off; build 67 removes the permission itself.
• Android build 67 replaces build 64 and includes everything listed for build 64 below.
• The iOS beta continues on build 64. This change applies only to Android.

1.6.0 build 64

Build 64 brings planning, whole-book generation, and scene review into a more complete workflow.

• Whole-book generation: review a plan and quote, then generate illustrations or a movie in the background, with progress and recovery for unfinished work.
• Richer planning: optional anchor descriptions, four illustration styles, voice approaches, spoken language, and reviewable scene motion and sound.
• Clearer speech instructions: speaker identity and voice direction stay separate from exact spoken words in video requests.
• Safer manual replacement: keep the current page video until choosing Use on page, or edit the settings and generate another candidate.
• Generation details: inspect saved settings and the submitted generation request when available. Older clips may have less detail.
• A fixed generation button keeps the next action and credit cost visible.
• Android project import fixes improve handling of shared archive filenames and the project list after an import.
• Video export fixes improve alignment of clip audio across page boundaries.

These improvements help consistency; they do not guarantee identical generated voices or automatically validate every image against its plan.

1.6.0 — Beta hardening

The release prepared for Play testing and TestFlight, focused on finishing complete books reliably on real phones.

New

• Editable covers with first-page artwork by default, replacement artwork, crop and position controls, title, subtitle, author, optional editable footer, and matching exports. Blank Book starts without a theme footer.
• Page narration timing keeps a still photo visible for the full recording instead of clipping narration to a fixed page duration.
• Video trimming with a visual timeline and selectable start and end points.
• Built-in story music choices alongside imported music, narration, and original video sound.
• Help & diagnostics in Account shows the exact app version, build, environment, and a copyable support summary.
• Studio Motion, a second subscription tier with 800 credits a month and the only access to AI video generation. Studio Plus continues at 400 credits a month with every other AI tool.
• Credit top-up packs of 200, 500, and 1,000 credits for active subscribers. Purchased credits do not expire and are spent after the monthly allowance.
• Durable generation. Images and video now run as background jobs on our servers, so closing the app no longer loses work in progress.

Changed

• The page editor keeps the canvas visible while text, media, sound, and layout controls are adjusted.
• Project canvas ratio and per-page layout are independent. Crop and position controls handle portrait, square, and landscape source media without silently stretching it.
• AI image and video requests follow the project canvas when choosing a supported generation ratio.
• AI video is now one quality at five or ten seconds, costing 25 and 50 credits, replacing the earlier Economy and Balanced tiers. Clips render on hardware we operate, and an accepted request may queue before it starts.
• The credit scale is ten times finer, so costs can reflect real differences between operations. An illustration is 10 credits, a story plan 5, narration 3 per page, and a suggested description 1.
• iOS video export now mixes narration and music, matching Android behavior.
• The supported iOS minimum is consistently iOS 15.

Safeguards made clearer

• Studio Plus provides 400 credits per monthly period and Studio Motion provides 800. Credits are shared across every operation the tier can perform, with no separate video balance.
• The daily credit cap has been removed. Your balance is yours to spend at whatever pace you like.
• Image generation is limited to two starts per minute and video to one, with a single active AI video at a time.
• Provider failures, safety refusals, and empty or corrupt outputs return their reserved credits automatically, to the wallet they came from.

1.5.x — Studio

The release that turned Doodle Dragon from a set of drawing tools into a studio for making books.

New

• Projects and books replace the old Sketching, Tracing, and Imagen screens. Work is organised around a project you keep, not a tool you open.
• AI page planning — turn one written idea into editable page text, layouts, and artwork suggestions, with optional matches from your existing Library.
• The illustration recipe — the description and style sent for every AI image are now shown to you in editable fields before anything is generated.
• Page editor with per-page layout overrides, drag-to-reorder, and confirmed page deletion that leaves the page media in Library.
• AI video clips, individually priced and confirmed through a remotely controlled capability catalogue.
• AI narration in a choice of voices, alongside the existing recording and audio import.
• Story music with a “lower music under narration” control.
• Project export and import as .ddstory archives, with safe validation.
• Plan and credits screen showing the remaining balance and the next reset date, with per-action costs shown before you confirm.
• On-device photo editing — light, contrast, colour, warmth, and the Original, Warm, Storybook, and Clean B&W looks. Free and offline.

Changed

• Repositioned for parents. AI creation belongs to an account holder aged 18 or over. The books remain for everyone.
• Credits replace token quotas. Costs are shown in units you can understand, before you spend them.
• Video is priced by duration rather than at one flat rate, so a short clip is not charged like a longer one.
• Failed and safety-refused generations now refund automatically.

Removed

• Tracing mode, its remote image library, and its feedback flow.
• Developmental sketch analysis.
• User-supplied API keys in the production UI. Keys are held server-side.
